Hertha BSC Berlin - Schalke 04 Gelsenkirchen 1:2
I happened to have visited even bigger grounds before, yet Olympiastadion made an overwhelming impression upon me that evening. The Hertha fans practiced a lot of shouting and singing in the S-Bahn (subway equivalent) and “Scheisse Nul Vier” appeared the greatest hit. Schalke 04 came to the German capital to collect 3 points and executed upon the plan although the final score may suggest Raul & Co. were not always in control. Only for a little while, right after the equalizer, Hertha seemed keeping up with the rivals' pace. Rafael, the only Hertha star, was making an impression of a lonely wolf on a prairie. The final outcome must have contributed to the Berlin club management decision to release the team's coach - Markus Babbel, by the way the former player of Bayern and Liverpool.
